Election noise profitable click bait

David Sherman

There will be tales of woe and beating of chests.

Millions of words will be written as to why and how.

That is how they earn their daily bread.

Just like the millions of words written before the debacle that was the U.S election.

There are news holes to fill, column inches to write.

Hours of time on cable TV between commercials to justify the commercials.

There are clicks to bait to appease advertisers.

They will analyze how a rapist won the votes of women.

How a grifter, liar, fraudster, conman won the votes of men.

How the newly crowned king touches “the people.”

The celebration by the right will be endless as will the approbation.

The critiques and horror from the middle and left will go on and on and on.

It will be four years of American soul-searching, cruelty, horror, venality and profit taking.

The pundits will be published for the pay cheques and the ads that enrich those who sign the cheques.

The reason for the debacle is more than the profit of entrenched ignorance.

That would not sufficiently enrich the corporations or “influencers” from which the tap of words flow.

In a country built on slavery, oppression and hate, the dollar is made sacred by the words In God We Trust.

Capitalism is king and the wealthy revered.

The tide of words will continue to rise.

In truth, Kamala Harris lost for two reasons.

Harris is a woman. Harris is black.

There is nothing left to say.

David, that is a simplistic analysis. Just one example, Here is a para from an article in today's G&M:

"Ms. Harris wasn’t able to expand on Mr. Biden’s 2020 support among women to cement a win, according to AP VoteCast, a sweeping survey of more than 120,000 voters countrywide. Fifty-three per cent of women supported Ms. Harris, compared with 46 per cent for Mr. Trump – slightly narrower than Mr. Biden’s advantage among them in 2020. In the last election, Mr. Biden won 55 per cent support from women, compared to 43 per cent for Mr. Trump, according to AP."

The same article points out that Trump increased his support from Black voters this time around.
