Independence Day 2023 Part II: Pro Patria

Updated: Jul 3, 2023

Earl Fowler

  1. It is patriotic to be stupid.

  2. It is patriotic to know only one language.

  3. It is patriotic to know a little about your own country and next to nothing about the others.

  4. It is patriotic to believe Americans are exceptional and live in the best country in the world while all other cultures are inferior, envious and covetous of what Americans have.

  5. It is patriotic to believe Jesus was white.

  6. It is patriotic not to read the books you want the school board to ban and the janitor to burn in the hellfire of the furnace; it is patriotic to loudly bluster at school board and library meetings about how books groom children for pedophiles and communists and vindictive woke activists who want white children to feel bad about themselves; it is especially patriotic to take over school and library boards and ensure that children are exposed only to books that don’t hurt anyone’s feelings, like the Bible.

  7. It is patriotic to be ignorant of the First Amendment of the United States Constitution, which says: “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.”

  8. It is patriotic to be ignorant of the “well regulated Militia” portion of the Second Amendment of the United States Constitution, which says: “A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.” (It is equally patriotic to believe that by “well regulated Militia,” the Framers of the Constitution had in mind untrained and unhinged racist, anti-Semitic lunatics who kill scores of innocent schoolchildren every year with handguns and semi-automatic rifles.)

  9. It is patriotic to believe that scientists and teachers and artists and academics and all the other educated eggheads are ninnies when it comes to dealing with real life; to echo celebrated egghead Isaac Asimov, it is patriotic to believe that democracy means my ignorance is just as good as your knowledge.

  10. It is patriotic to stop thinking and obey the Leader, disregarding whatever facts about his egomaniacal motives and treasonous behaviour come to light. It is patriotic to pretend not to know that patriotism — that pretended patriotism which so many, in all ages and countries, have made a cloak for self-interest — is the last refuge of a scoundrel.
